it’s probably been a minute since your last vacay. we know you’re missing the travel vibes – you know, the days where your passport could take you anywhere 😩 there’s nothing like kicking back and relaxing at the hotel or the bnb after a long flight. 

with covid tryna hold us back, we gotta be more creative. instead of katching flights, try thinking of ways you can create some vacay vibes right at home. what better way to do that than with a well-deserved staycation?! 

get out the house.

if you need a change of scenery, see what’s good with local hotels and airbnbs. sometimes they can have a deal good enough for a quick getaway to relax and reset 👀. treat yoself to something fancier than you usually would; maybe upgrade to a king size bed instead of settling for a queen! you deserve a little taste of luxury, even if it’s just for a day or two.

pack up yo favorite glossentials and some cute pjs in an overnight bag, along with some wine or champagne to wind down. if you’re really tryna splurge, you could even order room service. we’ll take the steak and lobster, please!

if you’re not tryna do a solo staycation, you could always turn it into a girls’ night with your besties. who doesn’t love chillin’ with their girls?  katching up and spilling tea in your face masks is the undefeated bestie kombo.

be a tourist for a day.

you new to town, sis? even if you’re not, it’s the perfect time to make your way around the city. if you’re into wining and dining, check out some local spots in your city. we recommend trying something you haven’t tried before and our pro tip is to go for something that makes you feel like you’re traveling! brazilian? african? portuguese? thai? a girl gotta have options 👀 

a socially distanced activity in your city is a good way to get away, even if it’s just for a couple hours. there might be some city tours you could try out or some art museums if you’re feeling xtra sophisticated! going to a side of town you haven’t seen wouldn’t hurt either. you never know what’s going on over there! n yaaass for a good photo op. get some sun-kissed selfies in yo camera roll, girl. having a little photoshoot could get you some cool pics to show off on insta.

create a spa oasis at home.

spa day, anyone?. instead of physically going to the spa, turn your bathroom into the spa you deserve. it’s time to run some bath water with your fav bath salts and bubbles, accompanied with some soothing music to put you in relaxation mode. as much as we love a soak in the tub, we don’t mind switching it up and hopping in a steamy shower instead – it’s givin’ off sauna vibes 🧖🏾‍♀️

wash yo face, girl. take some extra time on your skincare routine. we’re talkin face masks, toners, moisturizers and allat. go crazy or whatever chris brown said. just don’t combine too many products—avoid combining things like retinol and salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and vitamin c. 

after a soak, bust out yo favorite polish for a diy mani pedi. if you’re feeling generous, treat yoself to a foot mask so they can be smooth af. the darker shades that come around during the fall and winter time are so bomb 😍 pick your fav color and give yourself a mani-pedi. if you’re feelin’ creative, go crazy with some cool designs 👀

disconnect & unplug.

just cause you’re staying close to home doesn’t mean you can’t unplug! log out of your work email and turn off your notifications on slack. the last thing you want is to bring work on yo  staycation. you can’t relax if your coworkers are blowing up the slack channels! we suggest using those automatic “out of office” replies when you’re busy.

treat it like a real vacation and disconnect! whether that means logging out of social media, putting your phone on do not disturb or turning your phone off completely, we’re here for it! as much as you love your bestie, we know you’re not tryna hear about the drama with their ex you told them to leave months ago 😩
